Foreign students show outstanding interest in HUSS’s International Coaching Course

Never before have so many people applied for the International Coaching Course of the Hungarian University of Sports Science as this semester. The course is also funded by the International Olympic Committee.

The international Coaching Course (ICC), which has been running for more than 50 years at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), is funded by the Olympic Solidarity Programme of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is beyond doubt that this is currently the university’s most well-known international training course.

The university's Directorate of International Relations have registered a total of 108 applications from 52 countries, setting a record in the more than 50-year history of the programme. Additionally, it is worth highlighting that this year the university was able to fully utilize the funding provided by the IOC Olympic Solidarity Programme.

Several experienced instructors from HUSS teach both theoretical and practical subjects at the course. A unique feature of the course is that only one candidate is accepted per country, exclusively in Olympic sports. However, a distinctive aspect of HUSS is that general conditioning is also offered as an alternative discipline within the programme.

The course, which starts on 1st April and concludes with the graduation ceremony on 23rd May, will have 22 participants from 22 different countries across four sports: football (5 participants), basketball (4 participants), tennis (3 participants), and general conditioning (10 participants). A maximum of 20 participants can join the course with IOC support, but two individuals, one from India and one from the United States, will attend as self-funded students this year.
