Cooperation agreement signed by TF, the Hungarian Judo Federation and IJF

Representatives of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF), the Hungarian Judo Federation and the International Judo Federation Academy signed a long-term agreement that could even determine the development of judo in the future.

Cooperation between the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) and the International Judo Federation (IJF) already dates back to 2019, which resulted in the visit of several important players of the international judo scene to TF in the summer of 2022.

The meeting was the first stage of a joint pilot project between the International Judo Federation (IJF) Academy and TF, which aimed to showcase the TF's extensive experience in sports science to improve the performance of judo players.

The agreement signed by the representatives of TF, the Hungarian Judo Federation (HJF) and IJF on Thursday 24 October aims to develop procedures for the implementation of the Academy's Undergraduate Certificate as Judo Instructor (UCJI) education programme for students enrolled in the Judo Bachelor of Science in Coaching Programme (BSc) offered by the university.

The delegation consisted of HJF’s President Dr László Tóth, who also acts as IJF Vice-President, HJF’s Vice-President Dr Antal Kovács, HJF’s Vice-President for Communications and Marketing Dr Ádám Demén, Head of Institutions IJF Academy Dr Tibor Kozsla, IJF Academy President Envic Galea, IJF’s Academy Sports Director Florin Daniel Lascau and IJF’s Education Director Dr Slavisa Bradic. They were received by TF’s Rector Professor Tamás Sterbenz and Head of the Department of Combat Sports, Dr Endre Németh.

Rector Tamás Sterbenz reminded the audience that they had signed a cooperation agreement that would greatly determine the future of the university. Envic Galea described the event as historic and stressed that TF representatives are reliable, predictable and cooperative partners. He added that in the future they would like to expand the possibilities for cooperation with the TF, which has an excellent infrastructure.

Dr László Tóth considered it a great honour that the Hungarian federation can be part of this cooperation, pointing out that the university and the academy have played a significant role in the development of the sport through the cooperation between the academy and the university

Dr Endre Németh pointed out that the UCJI course of IJF Academy had been included in TF’s BSc judo training programme.
