International Coaching Course’s autumn session begins

Nineteen foreign students joined the university’s increasingly popular International Coaching Course (ICC), supported by the Olympic Solidarity (OS).

The most significant international coaching program of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF), the International Coaching Course’s (ICC) autumn edition has been launched. A total of 19 foreign students can improve their knowledge in ten sports.

ICC is a three-month non-degree full-time on-site course in English organized by the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), the International Relations Center (IRC) in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and supported by the Olympic Solidarity (OS), a department of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The programme's growing popularity is proved by the fact this year 19 students have started their studies from 17 different countries in comparison with the figure of 14 seen last year. To mark the occasion, IRC organised an opening ceremony and dinner. Rector for General Affairs Dr Csaba Ökrös and IRC Head Denissza Blanár welcomed the foreign students in a friendly atmosphere.

"I can see a lot of smiling faces, and I hope that this will continue in the coming weeks," the Vice-Rector for General Affairs began his welcome speech. “You are in a central place: Hungary lies in the middle of Europe, while Budapest is located in the heart of the country. Budapest is a true sports capital, and the university has produced many successful athletes and coaches. We are on the same side during your training, but once you are out of here, we will be each other's opponents, not literally. I wish you all the best of luck!"

Denissa Blanár reminded the audience that ICC is one of, if not the most, unique and oldest international training programmes of the university.

"Even though you come from different countries, you share something in common: you all want to develop your skills in the field of sport. This is a special journey and I hope you will feel what a unique experience you are about to have. You will be studying in a place that has produced almost a hundred Olympic champions for Hungary. I hope that you will be able to use the knowledge you have gained here in your sporting careers," said the Head of IRC.

After the dinner, the trainees walked to the old main building where they ended the evening with get-together party that included a quiz game joined by other international students from university.
