On 24 October, aletter of intent was signed between the Havana-based Manuel Fajardo University of the Sciences of the Physical Culture and Sport (UCCFD) and the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS). The parties intend to cooperate in a number of areas in the future.
On the Cuban side, Dr C. Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, His Excellency Guillermo Vázquez Moreno, Cuba's Ambassador to Hungary, Dr. C. Silvano Merced Len, Rector of UCCFD and M. Sc. Iliana Martínez González, Head of the Bilateral Department of the Ministry of Higher Education participated in the event held in the Rector's meeting room.
The foreign delegation was received by HUSS Rector Professor Tamás Sterbenz, Vice-Rector General Dr Csaba Ökrös, Director of the International Relations Dr Judit Kádár, International Coordinator Nóra Széles, International Relations Coordinator Gabriella Sztojalovszky and Head Coach of the university’s First League women's volleyball team Herrera Olazabal.
The event was also attended by the Hungarian Rectors' Conference (MRK) International and European Secretary Petra Perényi and Legal Secretary Dr Orsolya Heuer.
Both parties have a common purpose in the development and dissemination of knowledge, the promotion of international understanding, the enhancement of educational and academic opportunities for the institutions and their students and staff, and the provision of service to their respective communities.
The two institutions intend to cooperate in facilitating exchange and short term intensive programs, participating in research projects, organizing joint activities, including seminars, symposia, workshops, conferences, and digital educational programs, doing joint publications, internationalizating of existing programs as well as participating in mobility schemes that may serve the collaboration including Erasmus + or the KA171 project.
