Badis Soussi, a PhD student Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), gained valuable international research insights through the Pannonia Scholarship Programme during a short-term mobility at Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia in Spain.
International mobility plays a vital role in shaping the academic and professional paths of young researchers. Badis Soussi, a PhD student at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), recently had the opportunity to participate in the Pannonia Scholarship Programme, spending five intensive days at Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) in Spain.
Hosted by UCAM’s Faculty of Sport Sciences, the short-term exchange aimed to strengthen academic cooperation and provide insight into international research practices. During his stay, he attended lectures on sports performance, engaged in professional discussions with researchers, and visited laboratories where advanced testing protocols and diagnostic methods are applied in sport science. A particularly inspiring highlight was his visit to the Murcia High Performance Centre, where scientific research and elite sport practice are closely integrated.

This experience had a direct impact on his doctoral research. Discussions with UCAM experts encouraged him to critically reflect on his research design and consider new methodological approaches. Observing the applied sport science environment further deepened his understanding of the connection between research and high-performance sport.
Beyond academic development, the mobility provided valuable intercultural experience. Immersion in the Spanish academic environment revealed different teaching styles, communication approaches, and institutional structures. Interaction with international students and faculty enhanced his adaptability, intercultural competence, and open-mindedness.
The programme also reinforced his long-term goal of pursuing an academic career with strong international collaboration. Despite its short duration, the mobility proved to be intensive, well-organized, and highly productive.
He strongly recommends the Pannonia Scholarship Programme to fellow PhD students, as it offers an excellent opportunity to broaden perspectives, build international networks, and support professional development in a global academic environment.
