HUSS is awarded platinum status in FISU Healthy Campus Programme on its 100th anniversary

Marking its 100th anniversary, the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) has earned the prestigious platinum status in the FISU Healthy Campus Programme — the highest level of recognition awarded by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

Launched in 2020, the FISU Healthy Campus Programme encourages universities to create environments that support the physical and mental well-being of students, faculty, and staff. Institutions are evaluated across a 100-point system covering areas such as sports facilities, health promotion, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure.

HUSS joined the programme in 2023 and achieved bronze status in its first year. Since then, under the leadership of Dr Csaba Ökrös, Vice-Rector for General Affairs and member of the university management team, and with professional coordination by Dr Gyöngyvér Lacza, Head of the Department of Recreation, the HUSS team has introduced a range of new initiatives to further promote health and well-being on campus.

Achieving over 91 points required for platinum status, HUSS has demonstrated its commitment to fostering a holistic, healthy campus culture. This international recognition highlights HUSS’s leadership not only in Hungary but within the global sport sciences and university wellness community — setting an example for other institutions striving for excellence in campus health and sustainability.

With this achievement, HUSS joins an elite group of universities worldwide that are leaders in promoting health and well-being across campus communities.
