A group of Hungarian university rectors paid a fruitful visit to China in October. The Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) was represented by rector Professor Tamás Sterbenz.
The Hungarian Rectors' Conference (MRK) and Eötvös Loránd University organized a joint study visit to China led by MRK President Professor László Borhy, visiting Shanghai, Hanzsu and Beijing. As a member of the delegation, Rector Tamás Sterbenz represented the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF). He was accompanied by Zhang Qingyuan Grace from Shanghai, who will start her studies at the Doctoral School in the autumn after graduating from TF.
During the one-week programme, the Hungarian university leaders first attended a meeting with the President and leaders of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, and then visited Fudan University, where they signed a cooperation agreement on the launch of joint training at ELTE. It should be noted here that, as we have already reported, Tamás Sterbenz clarified the final details of future cooperation with Fudan University. A delegation from TF visited Shanghai Sports University in the spring, and the Chinese side will return the visit in November, when the two institutions are going to sign a cooperation agreement.
The Hungarian delegation also had the opportunity to gain insight into the work of the Chinese Ancient Books Preservation and Conservation Institute of Fudan University, where they learned the practical skills of lithography, and another research institute where they were given an insight into the research of a new industrial raw material. The university tour ended at the Robotics Research Institute.
The leaders the travelled to Beijing, where they attended a cultural programme and a university forum organised by Beijing Foreign Studies University. In addition to five major higher education institutions, the Beijing meeting also included discussions with the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation on future opportunities for language education in China.
During the trip, contacts were made with a number of Chinese universities, and concrete agreements were reached that may serve to develop further cooperation in the future.
