TF delegation pays fruitful visit to South Africa

The delegation of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) received tremendous recognition at the World Leisure Organisation’s (WLO) board meeting and the Leisure and Tourism Conference held in South Africa.

Between 2 and 6 October 2024, three distinguished colleagues of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) Dr Gyöngyvér Lacza, Dr habil. Miklós Bánhidi and Gabriella Sztojalovszky travelled to South Africa to participate in the World Leisure Organisation’s (WLO) board meeting and the Leisure and Tourism Conference at the University of the Western Cape.

The outstanding performance of the TF delegation attracted a lot of attention at the international event. Dr Gyöngyvér Lacza presented the TF's Center of Excellence application to the Board of the World Leisure Organisation. If the TF were to become a centre of excellence, it could join the highly prestigious network and engage in joint research and education projects in the field of recreational sports and healthy lifestyles.

Dr habil. Miklós Bánhidi not only presented the perspectives of sports tourism in his newly published book, but also took a leading role in the Leisure Experience Research Opportunity (LERO) international field research programme during the week before the congress. The book, written by Dr habil. Miklós Bánhidi and Dr Farhad Moghimehfar, is titled “International Perspectives in Sport Tourism Management”, and it is a major international professional success.

Gabriella Sztojalovszky's presentation on sports education for children with autism was of great interest. In her presentation she stressed the importance of ensuring equal access to sport for all children, especially those living with autism.

For the TF delegation, the study trip not only meant scientific lectures and project presentations, but also provided an opportunity to establish a number of professional contacts.
