Professor Tamás Sterbenz, rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) paid a short 6-day visit to Vietnam and Indonesia recently. During his trip, he met important university partners, established and developed a number of professional contacts.
The Rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) has recently returned from a trip to the Far East, during which he visited Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and then, accompanied by TF’s International Director Dr habil. Judit Kádár, travelled to the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Consul General of Hungary Gábor Lehőcz and Professor Sterbenz Tamás were received by Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Nam Nhan.
At the meeting, the participants discussed the possibilities for cooperation in the field of training and development of competitive sport, as well as the enrichment of sports science and technology transfer. The meeting aimed to discuss training and competition plans, as well as foster knowledge and science and technology in the field of sports.
"We went to Vietnam for a short but very useful meeting, which was organised by our distinguished colleague, Consul General Gábor Lehőcz, which I appreciate very much. I had two important meetings: one with the Government Office to discuss how we could help their organisations with education in sports management, nutrition and sports psychology. During the meeting, Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, underlined that he would like the Hungarian University of Sports Science to cooperate in the short and long-term training of Ho Chi Minh City leaders and coaches in sports science. In the second meeting, we met with the local rector and his immediate colleagues at the Ho Chi Minh City Sports University. Here we discussed the possibilities of establishing a traditional relationship between the two universities. In my view, these are promising opportunities for TF. Then me and International Director Dr Judit Kádár attended the Indonesian-Hungarian Sports Forum in Jakarta. We discussed possible student exchanges, teaching and joint research programs with five Indonesian sports universities. An important element of this discussion, which was joined online by TF’s Vice Rector for Science and Innovation Professor Zsolt Radák and Dr Bence Kopper, was the role of the Doctoral School and the Bachelor of Sports Science in the emerging cooperation”, said Tamás Sterbenz.
