A rectors' meeting aiming to bring together Hungarian and Argentinian universities was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina between 13 and 17 November. The event was attended by Professor Tamás Sterbenz, Rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science.
An expo offering an opportunity for Hungarian and Argentinean universities to present themselves and exchange ideas was organised between 13 and 17 November in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. The event was attended by representatives of five Hungarian and 24 Argentinean higher education institutions.
Six Hungarian universities, including the Hungarian University of Sports Science were present at the five-day expo that included visits to local universities and research institutions.
The Hungarian University of Sports Science was represented by Professor Tamás Sterbenz, Rector of the university, who returned from the South American country with a wealth of experience.
"I attended the event as a member of the official delegation of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference. It was a really useful and interesting professional trip," said Tamás Sterbenz. "Rectors of the Argentinian universities will pay their visit to Budapest in May. In addition to visiting the universities, one of the important events was our participation in an expo with more than a dozen universities, where the Hungarian delegation had face-to-face meetings with leading universities. In the field of sports science, I had the opportunity to meet the heads of two institutions that showed interest in our university, and I think this working relationship will continue. On 17 November I had the opportunity to meet Víctor Sergio Groupier, Secretary General of the Argentine Olympic Committee, and I was accompanied by József Németh, Attaché for Foreign Economic Affairs. I found that they have a very good experience with the university’s international coach training programme, which we are very happy about. We are thinking about a similar joint project. We also visited the Minister of Education. It was interesting to get to know the university structure, because there is a very diverse range of universities in Argentina. I think this is a useful and good initiative from the Hungarian Rectors' Conference. In the near future, a delegation consisting of Hungarian rectors will visit one of the Central American countries."
