Volunteers of the 2023 World Athletics Championships held in Budapest in August expressed their gratitude to World Athletics (WA) President Sebastian Coe and the new Hungarian permanent member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Dr Balázs Fürjes.
As known, Sebastian Coe and Balázs Fürjes submitted a proposal to the IOC at the end of October designed to give the Volunteers of the 2023 World Athletics Championships the Fair Play Award. The volunteers now have decided to present Mr Coe and Fürjes with a special gift in return.
This happened at the ceremony held for the two-time Olympic champion middle-distance runner, World Athletics President, Loughborough University Chancellor Lord Sebastian Coe, who was awarded the honorary doctorate title at the Hungarian University of Sports Science on 10 November.
The gift consisted of a framed T-shirt signed by the volunteers.
The gift was presented by ten lucky volunteers, while nearly 100 fellow volunteers present at the ceremony gave a standing ovation to express their gratitude for the International Fair Play Award.
