The Doctoral School of Sport Sciences invites applications from abroad for a postdoctoral fellowship in the form of a 6 or 12 months fixed-term employment.

The objective of the call
The objective of the Call is to provide opportunities for young foreign researchers with PhD degrees to carry out research work in the doctoral research workshops of the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, in accordance with the Institutional Development Plan, thus supporting the mobility of MTSE researchers, the involvement of foreign researchers in the University's research activities, and promoting the internationalisation of the Institution.
Eligible applicants
Young researchers and lecturers who hold an academic (PhD) degree as defined in Article 16(4) of Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education (hereinafter: Nftv.) or an academic (PhD) degree obtained and naturalised or recognised abroad are eligible for employment as postdoctoral researchers.
Young foreign researchers under 40 years of age in the year of application who have obtained their scientific (PhD) degree within the previous 5 years*, who have gained experience in research and who are not employed by the University.
An applicant who has not received his/her doctorate by the deadline for submission of the application, must attach the decision on the award to the application.
Conditions of the fellowship
Postdoctoral research may be carried out in the form of full-time employment. During the period of employment, the post-doctoral researcher may not hold any other employment contract for more than 20% of the full-time equivalent.
The awarded postdoctoral researcher is not allowed to receive any other postdoctoral fellowship or other grant during the period of the fellowship. Applicants must declare at the time of application that they will not receive any other funding during the period of the postdoctoral employment.
Postdoctoral fellows are required to include the name of the University as affiliation and the name of the supervisor as co-author in scientific publications reporting the results achieved during the period of grant.
It is expected that the postdoctoral researcher, with the help of the supervisor, shall have achieved results that can be published in an international Q1 or Q2 journal by the end of the postdoctoral period, and that these results will be published within 3 years of the end of the grant period.
The postdoctoral fellow and the supervisor shall prepare a joint research report of 15 000 - 20 000 characters within 2 weeks of the end of the grant period.
Requirements for supervisors
The supervisor must be an accredited supervisor of the Doctoral School, must have supervised at least two students who have already obtained a degree in the Doctoral School, must have had at least two first or last authored publications in Q1 or Q2 journals within the 4 years preceding the submission of the application.
The supervisor is also expected to provide appropriate research conditions for the post-doctoral researcher, including research costs, by providing a research grant to cover the costs of the research for the period of the grant - or by justifying that no additional costs are required for the post-doctoral research.
Application content and format
Applicants must prepare and submit their proposal in collaboration with the supervisor. Applications must be submitted in English.
The application must include::
- the applicant's academic CV and publication list
- a copy of the applicant's academic degree (PhD degree) (or a copy of a naturalised degree)
- a declaration by the applicant that he/she will not receive any other funding during the period of postdoctoral employment
- a research plan of approximately 8000 characters (signed by the supervisor)
- a declaration by the supervisor that the research costs are covered
- recommendation of the supervisor (max. 1 page)
- other information deemed necessary for the application (optional)
The way of submitting a proposal will be published in the call.
The application is valid only if all documents of the application are submitted by the specified deadline.
Formal checks on the application include eligibility, compliance with the deadline, and the presence of application annexes and signatures.
The content of the application will be assessed and ranked by an ad hoc evaluation committee appointed by the Head of the Doctoral School on the basis of the following criteria:
- the previous achievements of the supervisor, the existence of research conditions
- the research plan submitted by the supervisor and the postdoctoral researcher
- the significance of the scientific output expected from the collaboration
- the achievements of the post-doctoral researcher
The decision will be taken by the University Doctoral Council on the basis of the ranking submitted by the ad hoc committee on the recommendation of the Doctoral School Council.
Funding
The postdoctoral researcher receives a gross monthly allowance of HUF 400 000 for the period of the grant.
