The digital 2020 FISU World Forum is set to start on Wednesday, 12 August at the University of Physical Education (UPE). The online event will be attended by 1,400 participants from more than 100 countries worldwide, which is a figure that has never been seen in FISU’s history. One day before the start of the Forum, Mr. Dániel Mezei, leader of the Organizing Committee (OC) talked about the preparations and his expectations.

A press conference with an immense media attention was held at the University of Physical Education (UPE), Budapest two days before the official opening ceremony of 2020 FISU World Forum. Dr. Verena Burk, Chair of FISU Educational Committee also delivered a live speech through the digital platform. It was also revealed that the Hungarian sports channel Sport2TV will broadcast the opening ceremony.

Interest in FISU Forum exceeds all expectations

FISU’S first ever online Forum to be staged at the University of Physical Education (UPS) between 12th and 14th August 2020 has received more than 1,200 registrations so far, a figure that is still expected to rise. The Hungarian University Sport Federation (HUSF), which is one of the main organisers of the Forum, had made a good decision with its partners when it persisted with the ambitious plan to keep the event despite the pandemic.

The UPE has won a significant number of international mobilities

The UPE has won a significant number of international mobilities

As part of the 2020 ERASMUS + International Credit Mobility Application (ICM) announced by the Tempus Public Foundation, we have submitted a large number of applications with our partners in many countries around the world with the aim of finding support for two-way mobilities outside the European Union. The awarded amount of support is € 49,835 (17.7 million HUF) and two full years will be available from 1 August 2020 for the mobilities to be realized in both directions.

Fourteen days before the kick-off of the FISU World Forum, which will be held online between 12th and 14th August due to the pandemic, the Organising Committee (OC) settled a couple of important issues. It was revealed that IOC President Thomas Bach will also give a speech at the opening ceremony.
