In the second half of August, Mauritania hosted the World Gymanstics’s (Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique, FIG) regular academy called FIG Academy coaching course. Dr Zsuzsanna Kalmár, Head of the Department of Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Dance and Aerobics, participated in the course as an expert lecturer.

Dr Zsuzsanna Kalmár and Csaba Bordán represented Hungary and Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) as international judges, while Imre Draskóczy was present as the women’s artistic gymnastics national team’s head coach at the European Championships in Artistic Gymnastics held in August. Former and current HUSS students also competed in the event.

It has been confirmed that head coach of Italy men’s national water polo team Alessandro Campagna will hold a keynote presentation at the 9^th Netrisk Sport and Innovation Conference to be held at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) in October this year.

Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) enjoyed an outstanding campaign at the European Universities Games (EUG), held in Salerno, Italy, from 17 July to 1 August. The university's women's handball team successfully defended its title, while the men's beach handball team returned home with silver medals.

The 31st Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 6 to 10 July 2026. At one of the world's leading international conferences in sport science, several faculty members, researchers, and PhD students from Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) presented their work through oral presentations and poster sessions, further strengthening the University's international scientific presence.

Compared to last year, interest in universities grew not only nationwide, but more people also wanted to get into Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS). In fact, 1,182 first-year students will start the 2026/2027 academic year at HUSS, setting a new admissions record.

Eszter Bara, a staff member of the Library and Archives at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), represented the university as a member of the Hungarian women's sitting volleyball national team at the World Para Volleyball Championship held in Hangzhou, China.

Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) received a prestigious award at the ceremony hosted by the European University Sports Association (EUSA). The award was accepted on behalf of the university by Rector Tamás Sterbenz in recognition of HUSS finishing first in the overall medal standings at last year's European Universities Championships.

For the first time, the Tour de Mátra hosted a qualifying event for the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Gran Fondo World Series Amateur World Championships. The event was supported by 80 volunteers coordinated by Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS).

Dr Andras Hegyi and Dr Annamaria Peter, scientific staff members of the Department of Kinesiology, represented Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) at the ISEK conference, where they gave presentations and expanded their professional network.
